Folk College 2013
Folk College is a fun and friendly weekend of playing and listening to folk music — a fantastic three days of workshops, jam sessions, concerts, and group playing. The camp is designed for musicians with eclectic tastes. Within one weekend, you’ll have a choice of workshops ranging from oldtime to Celtic to blues to international, and you’ll get to sing, dance, play, and listen.
All Musical Levels Welcome
Musicians of all instruments and levels are welcome, and there are also choices for non-musicians who want to listen, learn, and experiment with folk music. Each evening features a staff concert followed by staff-led jam sessions. Saturday after the concert, we hold a contradance with an open band. You’ll also have an opportunity to be coached by a professional musician in a band setting and to perform in the student concert. Professional development will be offered for school teachers, including Act 48 credit for Pennsylvania teachers.
What Participants Are Saying
"Six years ago, Folk College completely rekindled my enthusiasm for music. Since then, I haven't missed a year, and I can't tell you how many tunes and songs I've learned, jams and classes I've participated in, and friends I've made." Gordon Bonnet
"It's rare I get to combine the ultimate in self indulgence with such a sense of community, but at Folk College we are all students of the music and dance we love, sharing what we know and exploring new horizons. Life does not get much better." Catherine Grigor

Saturday evening’s highlight will be a concert with Simple Gifts followed by a contradance.
Each year we honor a Pennsylvania Heritage Musician, to celebrate their contribution to the musical heritage of our area.
